Based on the New Line Cinema film, written and directed by John Waters, Hairspray is Broadway Musical set in Baltimore, Maryland in 1962. Quirky teenager Tracy Turnblad has a dream to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show. When Tracy wins a role on the show, she becomes a celebrity overnight, and meets a colorful array of characters. She then launches a campaign to integrate the show. This show is energetic, witty and charming but also shares a beautiful message of acceptance - looking past the color of a person’s skin and fighting for equal rights for all human beings.
